Ukraine’s Strategy of Attrition

چکیده

Attrition has been both Ukraine’s and Russia’s primary approach at the tactical level. preferred way of war centres on use artillery fire to facilitate decisive attritional effects opposing force, which it then exploits with manoeuvre. This is not unexpected, as most major conventional wars feature attrition well manoeuvre reconstitution. Western assistance brought Ukraine an impressive point, but may yield a fires advantage for sufficient ensure further operational breakthroughs or strategic gains. Advanced weapons, such US-supplied High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS), have allowed avoid combat, particularly in its counter-offensive Kherson. Even more effective wide-scale combined-arms training precision strikes, contemplated, future Ukrainian gains are likely be incremental costly unless Russian military significantly misspends combat power own offensive operations.
